Hawk Mountain (March Pick) Author Q&A
Share your questions for Conner Habib about his debut novel
Conner Habibβs Hawk Mountain is a nightmare.
Itβs an insidious piece of work which burrows its way under the skin, creating a misty resonance of both repulsion and wonder.
The feedback and messages Iβve received a part of this monthβs Gothic Book Club have been the most intense to date, and I love it! Sometimes we need a book to grab us by the shoulders; to shove our faces into a narrative so stark and brutal, we cannot bear to look away, no matter how horrifying it may be.
Some of you have finished already. Others are still savoring the experience. Itβs also only halfway through the month, and thereβs lots of time to participate if youβve been undecided. I can only urge you to set aside your fears and dive in. The audiobook version (read by the author) is particularly haunting.
Conner has also generously offered to answer your questions on the novel, so please submit them by whichever means you choose (reply to this newsletter, leave a comment here or on my social media, or simply DM). Iβll be setting up a call with Conner later in the month, during which I will relay your thoughts. The playback will be made available through the usual channels.
So, get your questions in! I cannot wait to pass on your thoughts to this fantastic author and you can rest assured it will be an enriching and inspiring conversation.
In the meantime, check out Connerβs Patreon for details of his writing courses, content tiers, and ever-ingenious means of delving into the vast and beautiful world of creativity.
Conner once mentioned that he considered writing Hawk Mountain as a screenplay during its journey from his mind to the page. With that in mind I'd like to ask Conner if he has a dream casting in mind in the event his magnificent book eventually makes it to the screen.
I'm only 80or so pages in - The Catcher in the Rye has just been mentioned and I wondered what influence, if any, that book had on Conner growing up?
